National Honor Society
NHS is more than just an honor roll. The Honor Society chapter establishes rules for membership that are based upon a students outstanding performance in the areas of scholarship, service, and character. These criteria for selection form the foundation upon which the organization and its activities are built. To become a member, a student must earn a semester GPA of 3.5 (or 3.4 with an "A" in both quarters of PE). Additionally, two (2) hours of community service is required per semester for membership. The student must complete the required community service during the semester used for qualification, the summer before or after that semester and prior to deadline for dues/hours to be turned into the Business Office. Deadlines are strictly enforced. Community service forms are available on the DPHS website or outside of Mrs. Tucker's office in the Counseling Office. Life membership is achieved by qualifying six or more semesters in four years of high school.
California Scholarship Federation
Founded in 1921, the California Scholarship Federation is the oldest scholastic, scholarship institution in the state of California. CSF emphasizes high standards of scholarship for California high school students and encourages pride in academic scholastic achievement. CSF Membership is based on scholarship and is gained after qualifying grades are earned each semester. In order to become a member, the student must submit an application each semester the student is eligible. A point system specified in the CSF State By-Laws establishes the membership requirements. To secure eligibility for CSF membership, a student must earn sufficient points from pre-approved course lists. The majority of the required membership points must come from University of California accepted course work. Life Membership (Seal bearer) is achieved by qualifying four or more semesters in the last three years of high school, and earns the CSF Gold Seal on diplomas and transcripts.
To access NHS forms, go to Counseling Resources to print them out.
