National Honor Society NHS is more than just an honor roll. The Honor Society chapter establishes rules for membership that are based upon a students outstanding performance in the areas of scholarship, service, and character. These criteria for selection form the foundation upon which the organization and its activities are built. To become a member, a student must earn a semester GPA of 3.5 (or 3.4 with an "A" in both quarters of PE). Additionally, two (2) hours of community service is required per semester for membership. The student must complete the required community service during the semester used for qualification, the summer before or after that semester and prior to deadline for dues/hours to be turned into the Business Office. Deadlines are strictly enforced. Community service forms are available on the DPHS website or outside of Mrs. Tucker's office in the Counseling Office. Life membership is achieved by qualifying six or more semesters in four years of high school. California Scholarship Federation
